Job description

Wood in Reading are seeking an Architectural Designer on an initial 3 month contract basis. This role is a fantastic opportunity to develop your existing Oil and Gas experience on a complex FEED project with an experienced, dedicated team.

Wood is seeking a Senior Civil Architectural Designer to join our team in Reading on a contract basis. Our projects cover a wide range of industries, including carbon capture, hydrogen power, waste to energy, biofuels, recycling, petrochemical, and oil & gas. In this role, you will provide architectural design and drawing services on a large FEED or EPC projects.

Key aspects will include:

  • Design of process, equipment and other plant buildings
  • Production of technically sound architectural drawings and other deliverables using MicroStation, in accordance with Project standards and schedules
  • Coordination of deliverables with other engineering disciplines
  • Design and coordination of project buildings as directed by Lead Architect
  • Report to the Lead Architect on technical and schedule issues within the project
  • Preparation of Architectural drawings in accordance with Wood Technical Work
  • Practices, project standards and client standards
  • Ensure sound build ability of all design work along with effective and accurate coordination with other disciplines
  • Keep abreast of Project strategies and key drivers. Maintain familiarisation with project Discipline Design Instructions
  • Regular coordination with the assigned Drafting Team to ensure uniformity in design and drafting activities in addition to checking drawings against design basis and mark-ups before issue

  • Architectural Design experience related to the energy/oil and gas sector.
  • Degree in relevant engineering area.
  • Oil & Gas or Energy experience.
  • Experience of Microstation
