Job description 1
As an Advisor in the Area Incident Team, you will be experienced in incident management, using your knowledge to shape, inform and deliver the planning, preparation and response to a wide range of incidents. Working with both internal and external incident management partners you will help to deliver a 24/7 first class incident management service.
You will provide advice and guidance to others during incidents and will play a role in assuring our response to ensure we deliver our duties as a Category 1 responder. You will work together with others to help shape, influence and assure internal and external tactical and strategic plans for the Area and help maintain the Area’s risk register, carrying out incident planning and mitigation for large scale hazards in the Area. You will be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
You will play an important role to embed delivery of incident management business improvements such as the introduction of new tools and ways of working.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. This role is required to undertake a tactical incident management role, such as the Area Base Controller role. This involves out of hours standby and response which is additionally rewarded. Full training will be provided to support you with your incident role.
The team 1
The Area Incident Team works across functions to prepare for all types of incidents, support others, provide tactical response, and deal with the increasing threats and natural hazards resulting from the climate and ecological emergency. We coordinate and assure all Incident Management activities, including training and exercising and Local Resilience Forum engagement while also delivering core preparation activities.
Experience/skills required 1
Through experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate:
  • An understanding of causes and impacts of a wide range of incidents, plus practical experience of responding to / managing incidents.
  • Practical experience of incident management systems, processes and risks
  • An understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Category 1 responder
  • The ability to develop and maintain good relationships with customers.
  • Delivery of work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • The ability to lead and support working groups and organise/facilitate effective meetings.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, and as part of a team, to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes.
  • A drive for risk-based decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to tackling the climate and ecological emergency through your work.

Base Location. Either in Lincoln or Kettering.
You will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
