Position Summary - Area Project Engineer - Permit Lead
Assist the Project(s) Engineering Manager and the Project Engineer(s) in the supervision of the engineering activities for the engineering discipline(s) as necessary on the project. Under the direction of the Project Engineering Manager and/or Project Engineer(s), assists in the planning and directing of engineering assignments for the project(s). Has responsibilities for interfacing with other execution centres (if utilised), interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the assignments/tasks associated with the project. Works directly with Bechtel customer(s) and senior management on matters relating to Project Engineering progress, quality, scope and technical/permitting issues. Directs the establishment of work process integration and systems implementation for the programmatic design process. Establishes and maintains access to technical experts in the advanced technologies pertinent to the project and sets up channels of communication to bring this expertise to bear effectively on the engineering effort. Champions the creation of a work environment, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction on the project.
Typical Responsibilities
Assists in managing work related to Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) interface on permitting along with construction inspection.
Responsible for enforcing codes and standards set by various committees.
Interfacing with the customer engineering lead to establish requirements, communicate progress, understand and resolve customer concerns.
Assist with managing the engineering team to meet quality and schedule requirements for the production of the engineering deliverables.
Providing technical oversight for the development of engineering deliverables for the project.
Reviewing and approving key engineering deliverables for the project including CAD models, drawings, specifications and supporting calculations.
Reporting progress and status of the development of key engineering deliverables.
Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers and field supervision. Fostering openness, trust, communication, teamwork, innovation and empowerment among project team members.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to building design – especially EU.
Recognized degree in engineering from an accredited institution and related engineering experience including experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in work process development.
Experienced in BIM design and federated modelling requirements/processes.
Experienced in the design of supporting systems, equipment layout and optimization for modular design considerations.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Additional Qualifications
Professional license or registration in an engineering discipline.
Experience in High Technology and Manufacturing facilities engineering and construction – especially Semiconductor Fabs.
Previous Bechtel experience would be most welcome.
