Job summary
The Land Warfare Centre is looking for a motivated and driven individual to join the Equipment
Support Team. This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of a small team based at
Warminster. This role will involve working closely with all the Operational Training Delivery
Schools that provide trade specific training to Army personnel. As a key team member working
alongside other civilians and military personnel, you will gain valuable insight into a wide range of
military equipment and how it is utilised in delivering training, playing a pivotal role in ensuring
that the right equipment is repaired, maintained and available to Trainees.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
Your main purpose will be as the interface between the Training Schools, Equipment Support elements -MoD primary contracted Equipment Support provider Babcock Defence Support Group (BDSG), and others i.e. Aspire, Holdfast. Scrutiny, processing and monitoring of work submissions is pivotal to the role. This covers a wide array of the British Army Land Equipments and weapon systems utilised within the UK and abroad.
You will need to scrutinise all work task submissions prior to processing, submitting and monitoring through to closure whilst ensuring the originating units are kept informed of progress or delays. As part of this you will need to build good working relationships with all stakeholders involved. This is to ensure safe legislatively compliant equipment is delivered to the hands of the user. Regular interface with Field Army i.e meetings around this contract will be required where you will be expected to report on issues arising or portray good news stories.
Your ability to process, distribute and understand the implications of any Safety Notices or Engineering Notices received from the higher authority levels is key.
Control of the National Roadside Recovery and Repair Contract on behalf of LWC forms part of this role, involving issuing of authority to requesting units.
This role will require travel to Land Warfare Centre schools which are distributed across the country and potentially to those abroad. Proactive engagement with the user communities will enhance business outputs.

Person specification
We are looking for someone that has good information processing skills and who can change priorities at short notice. It is key that the individual has an automotive engineering background and a good knowledge of or keen interest in modern military Land Equipment.
Applicants need to be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite. Proficiency in additional specialist MoD software applications will be required but training will be provided.
The position holder should be a great teammate, with strong communication skills to engage effectively and establish strong links across the Training Schools and with all external agencies.
Candidates should list all proven experience in their Personal Statement as part of their application, including evidence of Awareness Levels of System Safety and In-Service Engineering Competencies.
Candidates must be willing to work toward achieving recognition / membership of the Engineering Council in a professional capacity.
