Art Technician

Academics currently have an exciting technical position available in one of their partnership secondary schools in Leek. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with all teaching staff & students within the school's wonderful Art Department.

The role is currently 1 day a week (this particular day can be flexible for the successful candidate) and is an ASAP start date. The successful candidate will be required temporarily until May 2024, however this role does have the possibility of becoming extended further. Working hours will be between 8:00am-4:00pm and will be a full day.

For this particular role you will have a technical frame of mind and the ability to resolve any practical issues that learner's may have during the lesson.

Responsibilities as an Art Technician include:

• To carry out daily maintenance duties given by the Head of Department.
• To assist with Art departmental displays and to assist with the mounting, preparation and installation of artwork around the school.
• To preserve equipment, materials, and services in the classroom.
• To proficiently manage the storage of materials, equipment, and artwork.
• To provide technical assistance to all students during lessons.
• To prepare specialist materials and equipment for use in lessons.

Role Requirements

• You must hold a relevant Art qualification (BA Hons, MA, PGCE, etc…).
• Strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills to build effective relationships with both staff and students.
• Contribution to the broader curriculum would be essential.
• Hold a current Enhanced BDS that is registered with the Update Service, or to be prepared to apply for a new Enhanced DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
