Arts & Community Manager - Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
We are looking for an experienced Arts & Community Manager, to lead and grow the community offering here at Castle Theatre.
The role will be varied, from the general oversight and management of the departments and its staff, to leading sessions in all disciplines, to working on community outreach events and programmes.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Department Management

 

  • To lead and grow the community offering at Castle Theatre.
  • Manage contracted, casual and freelance members of staff.
  • Work with the General Manager and other Heads of Departments to set and track budgets and spend for the department.
  • Actively promote the expansion of the community branch, working closely with the Marketing team. This includes managing the social media and website information, as well as working on best advertising practices in general.
  • Day-to-day administration of the department, including emails and enquiries etc.
  • Liaising with the Box Office team to ensure that class administration tasks (including bookings, payments etc.) are being kept up to date.

Session & Performance Management

 

 

  • Developing and producing a constant, ongoing and varied selection of workshops, productions and projects to sustain internal and external interest both in the theatre and Castle Arts itself.
  • To ensure that all scheduled sessions and workshops go ahead successfully and are delivered to a high standard (either by delivering them themselves or through the management of members of staff).
  • To plan and execute various workshops, school visits, shows and projects throughout the year.

Community Events Management

 

 

  • Working with other departments, plan and execute agreed-upon community events.

Outreach Management

 

 

  • Work on improving the relationship between Castle Theatre and the local community.
  • To strengthen the ties with local schools and other community organisations.
  • To seek opportunities within the local and national communities for collaboration and funding.

Safeguarding

 

 

  • To monitor and ensure the proper enforcement of the child protection policy. To licence all young people in education for rehearsals and performances.
  • To act as the safeguarding officer for Castle Theatre.
  • To act as a fully licensed chaperone where required (including an enhanced DBS check).
  • Assisting with emergency evacuations and other emergency situations to ensure the safe evacuation of those in sessions during an emergency.
  • To ensure that all duties are carried out in compliance with the Company's Health & Safety Policy and adhering to the venue's premises licence and business procedures at all times.

Other Duties

 

 

  • To perform any other ad hoc duties as may be reasonably expected within the role.
  • To assist with Castle Theatre's in-house pantomime, if required.

Person Specification
Essential

 

 

  • Experience working with young people and the community
  • Performing arts experience
  • Some administrative experience
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Computer literate
  • Thorough knowledge of the performing arts industry
  • DBS checked (or willing to be)

Desirable

 

 

  • A teaching qualification
  • Choreography experience
  • Some experience with managing departments or people
  • Production/directing experience
  • Experience with seeking funding
