SalaryWe are looking for an ASM (Assistant Stage Manager), for two large-scale community productions, performed in May/June 2024 as part of our theatre's fiftieth anniversary celebrations. The first - Lark Rise, is adapted by Keith Dewhurst from the classic account of rural Oxfordshire life by Flora Thompson. The second - Barn Dance, a new play by multi-Olivier award winning writer Mike Bartlett, follows the story of an Oxfordshire barn from the 1930s to the present day. Both are directed by Artistic Director John Terry, and will involve a large mixed company of professional and amateur performers. Both shows will be performed in promenade in and around our auditorium. Contracts will run from 24th May to 20th June (4 weeks). Applicants should have previous professional experience in the role.
The role will report to the CSM, and work closely with the Production Manager and Director. You will be responsible for sourcing and creating props, setting props and costumes before, during and after performances, and running the backstage track during performances, which will include manual handling and moving of scenery. There may be some additional tasks such as laundry support.
General working pattern will be up to six days a week, operating up to two shows a day and assisting with resets, with an average working week of 46 hours.
This is an Equity UK Theatre contract, and you will receive payment weekly, along with subsistence allowance. We match you with a local digs host for the run. We reimburse your travel on your first and last journeys, between the theatre and your home address.
Rates: £520 per week, plus subsistence of no less than £221 p/w.
