Job description

Major Recruitment are on the lookout for experienced Assembly and Moulding Operative to join our world leading client based in Burnley. Our client is dedicated to producing high-quality products while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. As part of their team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our Assembly and Moulding operations meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Role Overview: As an Assembly and Moulding Operative, you will be responsible for achieving high standards of quality and output while ensuring safety and maintaining product traceability. You will work closely with a team to assemble components, verify mouldings, resolve assembly problems, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Details for Assembly & Moulding Operative:

  • Permanent position
  • 3-week rotating shift pattern, split between nights, days, and twilight shifts.
  • Twilight shift: Mon to Thurs 4.00 p.m. to 12.00 a.m., Friday 12.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Additional 5.13ph.
  • Night shift - Mon to Thurs 09.30 p.m. to 07:00 am. Additional 4.44ph.
  • Day shift - Mon to Thurs 7.30 a.m. to 4.15 p.m., Friday 7.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
  • Immediate starts available for the right person.
  • Rate of pay dependent on experience, starting from 13.61ph.
  • Close to public transport

Key Responsibilities:

  • Study assembly drawings, bills of materials, and parts lists to prepare work.
  • Assemble fixtures and components according to drawing requirements.
  • Verify mouldings and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Resolve assembly problems by notifying the Co-ordinator or engineering team.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment following procedures and regulations.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Utilize computers to obtain production plans, procedures, and provide shift updates.
  • Contribute to team efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping practices.

Additional Duties:

  • Undertake other general duties to support departmental efficiency.
  • Flexibility to work in other departments or undertake various tasks as needed.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Methodical approach to systems and understanding of standards.
  • Ability to make decisions confidently within given boundaries.
  • Strong personal organization and time management skills.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in basic software applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings accurately.
  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, preferably in engineering.
  • Experience working with plastics, plastic mouldings, and injection equipment preferred.
