Job description

The SEND Assessment & Commissioning Team are going through a programme of professional investment and development!

You will be joining a team at an exciting time, as we look to respond to increasing capacity demands as well as develop our ways of working and improve our person centred approach to supporting children, young people, their families, in partnership with services across education, health and care.  

The role is fundamental to ensuring coordinated, person centred, outcome focused and holistic Education, Health and Care Plans needs assessments and review with appropriate provision and support clearly identified within the EHC plan.

The right person for the job must be passionate and committed to the positive impact the EHC needs assessment, planning and provision can have on a child and young person’s access to education and preparation for adult life.

You will need to be a resilient, self–motivated and organised individual with the ability to lead and provide oversight to a busy team.

You will be able to independently support the team in identifying and meeting strict statutory deadlines, whilst keeping outcomes for children and young people at the heart of what they do.

You will have responsibility for ensuring statutory compliance, specifically within legislative requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated SEND code of practice: 0 to 25.

You will have:

  • Previous line management experience or the ability to demonstrate competency in this area
  • Considerable experience of complex SEN casework and managing SEN statutory processes and procedures
  • The ability to manage the day to day functions of a busy team of Assessment & review coordinators and business support
  • The ability to keep up to date with changes in practice, legislation and guidance
  • The ability to produce high quality EHC plans through effective person centred person centred planning and analysis of information from a variety of sources
  • The ability to transfer knowledge and skills in to diverse situations and anticipate issues and situations
  • IT skills to support effective and accurate case recording and casework

This job is remote working with a requirement to regularly attend an office base and meetings across the local area.
