Asset & Configuration Manager - £600 PD Outside IR35 - Worthing (Hybrid) - Contract Our utilities client is currently seeking a Asset & Configuration Manager to join their team on a contact for 6 months initially. This will be a hybrid role and you will be required to come into the office 1-2 days a week. The Asset & Configuration Manager is accountable for defining and managing the IT Service Asset & Configuration Management policy and processes. It is responsible for governing the quality and accuracy of data held within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). It is also responsible for ensuring integration with the other IT Service Management processes such as Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management. This role enables IT management to exercise control of IT configuration items and assets ensuring that up-to-date and verified information on the status of service assets and IT infrastructure is made available to other IT service management processes. In addition, this role working in partnership with IT Service Operations defines and develops the Southern Water IT Configuration Plan including setting up the automated Configuration Management Database, IT Asset database and associated processes and controls. Stakeholder engagement is key, the post holder will establish and maintain good relationships within IT, additionally interacting with business teams, as and when required. Responsibilities: The creation, implementation, communication and management of asset and configuration management plans, processes, and standards. Working with the Service Management Centre Leand and IT Services Management Manager to define the strategy and roadmap for Service Asset Configuration Management Agreeing assets to be uniquely identified with naming conventions and ensuring all IT personnel comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates. Proposing, agreeing and managing interfaces with change management, problem management, network management, infrastructure operations and service transition. Reviewing the Asset and Configuration Management processes on a regular basis for efficiency and effectiveness ensuring any agreed changes to the processes are properly approved and communicated. Controlling and managing the configuration & asset management database, perform change evaluation based on information received assessing quality of requests for change (RFC) to the Asset & CMDB for comprehensive accuracy and lead times. Developing and enhancing the CSDM (Common Services Data Model) in line with current industry standards. Coordinate all configuration management database changes which directly or indirectly impact non-production environments or production services according to the agreed and published Change Control policy. To identify, control, record, report, audit and verify configuration items, including versions, baselines, constituent components, their attributes and relationships using automation and integration with monitoring systems wherever possible Leverage existing tool suites and propose best of breed solutions. Producing management information and coordination with teams to drive ownership of IT assets and improve understanding of associated processes About you: Minimum ITIL v3 certification. Current experience of assets and CMDB/CSDM models and methodology. Experience with IT Service Management toolsets (e.g. Service Now, Microsoft Config Manager) Relevant IT Service management experience Extensive experience in leading Service Asset and Configuration Management in a challenging environment is desirable. Experience and strong knowledge of IT Service Management processes including Configuration, Change, Incident, Problem and Transition Management. Database design and architecture experience. Specialized knowledge of defining, documenting, implementing and managing Asset Management and Configuration Management processes for both hardware and software CIs.
