Berneslai Homes has an exciting opportunity for an Assets Capital Projects Officer to join their team based in Barnsley with the ability to work agilely. You will join us on a full time (37 hours) permanent, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £36,648 to £39,186 per annum.

The Assets Capital Projects Officer role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assets Capital Projects Officer to join our Asset Management service.  

As part of this role, you’ll provide project supervision and technical input for all aspects of the core Barnsley Homes Standard (BHS) and capital improvement programmes delivered to the Council housing stock. 

Key duties and responsibilities of our Assets Capital Projects Officer:

  • To ensure a customer focused approach is adopted in all aspects of the service
  • To ensure that the needs of customers both internal and external are met by providing the best quality of service.
  • To assist in the development of and implementation of good working practices in line with Berneslai Homes Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity policies.
  • To deal with sensitive information with regard to confidentiality, data protection and freedom of information.
  • To maintain information systems in line with service requirements.
  • To participate in the identification of training requirements and undertake training and development in line with agreed Personal Development Reviews (PDR’s).
  • To ensure a pro-active approach is taken to equality and diversity issues.
  • To attend meetings/team briefings/staff conference as and when required with internal and external bodies.

What we’re looking for in our Assets Capital Projects Officer:

  • HNC/NVQ Level 4 or proven extensive experience
  • Demonstrate a positive, flexible approach to team working
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedure and understanding of responsibilities
  • Substantial experience in either a recognised construction industry trade or housing maintenance.
  • Understanding of finance and performance management methods and reporting mechanisms
  • Ability to diagnose defects or identify problems and make technical recommendations/referrals
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and ability to look for solutions and opportunities in a changing environment.
  • Experience of working effectively on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • An understanding and commitment to Equality and Diversity in the Workplace
