SalaryHeyland Recruitment are working alongside this Warrington based logistics and engineering business as they look to recruit an experienced and well-rounded Assistant Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is a key role within the finance team where you'll play a vital role assisting with the production of accurate and timely management information in line with business requirements, whilst ensuring regularity obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with month end close processes including journal entries, reconciling accounts, and producing financial reports, in line with internal reporting deadlines.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and HP schedule, accounting for additions & disposals.
- Calculate supplier rebate schemes.
- Complete board pack slides in Excel & PowerPoint.
- Investigate and implement additional reporting requirements to support the business's decision making.
- Calculate & submit VAT & CIS returns in line with HMRC deadlines.
- Cash management including cash drawdowns, payment processing and banking reconciliations.
- Credit card statement reconciliation & posting.
- Raising customer credit notes.
- Complete ONS surveys.
- Annual CITB levy calculation and submission.
- Provide back-up support for Sales and Purchase Ledger management (inc. supplier payment runs).
- Assist with the year end audit, compiling necessary information.
- Assist within the finance department as and when required.
Key Skills / Experience Required:
- Minimum AAT qualified.
- 1-2 years' experience in a similar role.
- Have a proven track record in a similar role.
- Highly motivated and ambitious.
- Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills - written & verbal.
- Experience of Sage 200 would be advantageous but not necessary.
