The role
As an Assistant Chief Engineer - Platform Systems, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you will support with the improvement of the delivery of submarine engineering projects.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for providing technical oversight and support to the teams who are undertaking maintenance activities associated with the Platform Systems during deep maintenance:
- Understand the design intent and functional requirements to ensure they are met through 'line of sight' from the Reliability Design Analysis Report (RDAR), execution, testing and acceptance
- Agree appropriate acceptance criteria, where specifications are obsolete or invalid in the circumstances or unclear.
- Adopt a forward-looking view of technical risks, whilst proposing and actioning mitigations utilising Suitably Qualified Experienced Person (SQEP) Teams.
- Hold technical reviews prior to major evolutions or areas of engineering or technical risk.
- Support incremental assurance reviews
This role is full time and will be based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Assistant Chief Engineer - Platform Systems:
- Demonstrable experience in submarine engineering, specifically within the field of mechanical or electrical engineering.
Qualifications for the Assistant Chief Engineer - Platform Systems:
- Level six qualification in Engineering
- Chartered Engineer
Please note that this position is subject to enhanced national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
