Assistant Design Manager

One of the UK's leading national main contractors delivering projects across education, commercial and healthcare. Looking for an Assistant Design Manager with an enthusiasm to develop into the role of Design Manager.

Role
Reporting to the Senior Design Manager intially on a high profile multi million £ project, the position plays a critical role in the management and control of the design process, ensuring that design and procurement information package aligns with the project requirements. As part of the Project Delivery team, the individual will provide design input during the pre-construction period and then as the project moves on site.

• Assisting in the management relating to the development and implementation of design proposals ensuring they meet customer / employers’ requirements including being aware of budget and programme constraints. 
• Assist in the implementation of the companies digital protocols and any client BIM deliverables.
• Monitor responsibilities for the scheme against the project design responsibilities matrix.
• Assist in the effective management of the Design Team including M&E elements. This includes, where necessary, the management of any 3rd parties or novated design teams to ensure that they meet all customer specifications, and where necessary, checking the competence and resources of any incumbent design teams or 3rd parties.
• Facilitate forums and processes that engage with the commercial and operational teams to ensure input in the design process.
• Conduct QA / Initial design reviews of information received to assist in design quality management.
• Assist in the record approval processes.
• Assist in the management of the design deliverables programme:
• Assist in the management and facilitation of meetings relating to design delivery - including but not limited to:
• Be aware and assist in the management of sustainability deliverables for the scheme including external and internal targets.
• Liaise with document project document control and assist in the management of this resource

Experience Required

This role will suit someone who is currently working in a Design Coordination capacity who is looking to take on more responsibility and progress towards a Design Manager level. Applicants must have UK construction experience, ideally with a building main contractractor however candidates with experience working in other construction sectors such as Housing or Infrastructure are encouraged to apply.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD knowledge is a plus.
Willingness to learn work on own development outside the role.
Organised with excellent time management skills.

Remuneration
Salary will vary depending on experience, generous holidays and company pension scheme.
