Job description

The Assistant Educational Psychologist opportunity is currently being offered on a fixed term contract basis of 24 months; however, if budgets allow the contract length may be extended and/or become permanent, though this is not guaranteed.  If an internal council employee wishes to apply for this role, a secondment opportunity may be considered (please state this on your application.
Salary:
Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist - Soulbury B4 to 7 with up to 3 SPA points (existing SPA points will be transferred) (£58,348 - £66,425)
Assistant Educational Psychologist - Soulbury Scale for Assistant Educational Psychologists (point 2-5) (£35,228- £39,341)
Market Forces premium of £4,000 per annum (for qualified EPs)
Relocation allowance of up to £8000 (for qualified EPs) * subject to 2 yearly review of market conditions

We are a supportive and collaborative team with a range of experiences and interests. We are enthusiastic about applying psychology, valuing practice-based and evidence-based approaches.  Several members of the team are accredited VIG practitioners and others hold qualifications in CBT. We are passionate about inclusion and value working at systems level through training and research and directly with children, young people and their families.
We provide a termly consultation service to every school and academy through a link psychologist, provide an EBSA home-school video consultation service, and centrally available training, ELSA and MeLSA, in addition to school-based traded work and the usual statutory work.
Our traded service is already working with the majority of our educational settings who purchase EP time for assessments, interventions, therapeutic work, training and systemic work. Our ELSA training and supervision offer is strong and has received the national quality award. We have expanded our EBSA consultation service through public health funding and our training and support work with the Virtual School. We continue to explore new opportunities with other partners within Health and Social Care, which align with our vision of being a community resource.
We have good links with Doctoral Training Programmes in the region, supporting the Doctorate selection process, thesis examinations, University training sessions, and we host placements for Trainee Educational Psychologists. We value the contribution trainees make to our service and harness the innovation those placements bring.
