Astute's Power team is partnering with a large Biomass Power Station to recruit an Assistant Environmental and Chemistry Officer for its site in Ashington.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Environmental and Chemistry Officer you will:

• Assist the Environment and Chemistry department development, including working closely with other departments when required.
• Have a strong oversight of the emissions monitoring and LPL's waste duty of care.
• Assist in the management of the power station chemistry function, including updating the Environmental Management system.
• Carry out daily Health and Safety walk arounds of the site.
• Supervise shift chemists, providing direction and assistant to them as required.
• Assist with the management of the department's budget.
• Assist the competent person on site with hazardous substances (COSHH) and Legionella management

Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:

• Experience using Laboratory Analysis equipment and techniques.
• IT literate, confident using the full Microsoft Suite
• Experience gained in the Power Industry, or other heavy industry, in a similar role.
• A NEBSOH / IOSH and / or a Degree in a relevant subject are desirable but not essential.
• A WAMITAB is desirable but not essential.
