Assistant Financial Controller

Newly created opportunity for this leader in their specialist area of mortgages and secured loans.  This role would be suitable for a first step from practise.
This role reports directly to the Financial Controller and supports the Director of Finance and Strategy. This exciting position will be managing the Group’s internal and external reporting (including preparation of management accounts, statutory accounts, funding and regulatory returns), treasury, audit and tax requirements. You will also play a role in the financial planning and analysis process, including budgeting / reforecasting, variance analysis and investment appraisal.
Your responsibilities will be to assist in the preparation of all financial internal and external reporting including, Internal management accounts, Internal Board and Committee reports, Funder reports and returns, Regulatory reports (including MLAR, PSD, Bank of England and FCA surveys / thematic reviews), Annual statutory accounts and Tax returns and iXBRL accounts.
The ideal candidate will be

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent) with 1-3 years’ post-qualification experience
• Strong accounting (FRS 102) technical knowledge with proven intellectual horsepower
• A robust team player able to work collaboratively with other members of the Finance team and wider business as required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint and financial modelling
• Demonstrates good problem-solving skills, excellent planning and time management skills, comfortable working to deadlines with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
• An energetic self-starter prepared to go the extra mile to achieve success and able to work well under pressure
• Experience of the external audit process (ideally)
• Financial Services experience (ideally)
