Job description

Variable (expected to be 8-10 Hours per week) Term Time Only - 35 weeks per year At Kirklees College we are always looking for new talent, and welcome applications from all sectors. Whether in a teaching & learning role or in one of our specialised Business Support functions, you’ll be involved in nurturing and developing the next generation of construction workers, engineers, health workers and countless others. We’re already a successful college, but we’re continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our story! In the role of Assistant Football Academy Coach, you’ll be based predominantly at Leeds Road Sport Complex and your focus will be on delivering an outstanding football programme to our students. The successful candidate will support the Academy Co-ordinator to facilitate football training, matches, competitions and events. This will include the planning, delivery and the analysis of the college’s football programme. You’ll be expected to deliver quality training sessions to all teams and oversee the running of the male second team on match days. In addition to the coaching, you will be responsible for helping grow the academy, through monitoring attendance, devising player performance mechanisms and model a high standard of behaviour to those you coach. This role is variable in hours but is expected to be 8-10 hours a week over the college’s term time (35 weeks). The coaching sessions are held on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday and run from 9:00-10.30, and there will be additional Wednesday afternoon match days. The ideal candidate will have a background in football coaching, with experience of player performance pathways. Experience of working within an education setting is desirable. To be considered for this role, applicants need to demonstrate they hold a minimum of a Level 2 (UEFA C) FA coaching qualification or equivalent coaching qualification and relevant industry experience. Experience of managing sports teams would be preferred but we can offer support to develop the right candidate if required. It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively and engage with young people and demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role. Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We believe learning is not just for our students: it’s an important part of working here too. Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You’ll also have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel. We want people who believe in the value of education, and who can contribute to our culture of supporting and challenging one another.
