About the Assistant Growing Manager job

The purpose of your role will be to work closely with the Managing Director to oversee, maintain and manage the growing of crops.

Key tasks

To always maintain the companys quality standards and monitor compliance and conduct farm audits & update systems with accurate data.

Responsibility for sourcing crop inputs and farm resources, maintaining schedules of irrigation, routine product checks, as well as product rotation planning and coordinating cultivations, i.e field selection, water availability, regular sowing, and planting of new crop etc.

Occasional Tractor driving - Holiday cover for drilling, Spraying* & Irrigation *(If trained to correct level PA1,2 & 6).

Ensure production team fulfil its KPIs and assist in training for appropriate staff.

To maintain safe working conditions for the health and safety of the production staff. To carry out maintenance schedules of all machinery and plant on an annual basis or as required and assist in site maintenance.

Liaise with the Production Manager regarding potential stock shortages and implement a plan to rectify.

About You

The successful candidate should possess degree in horticulture, agriculture, or agri-science related subject, and may be a recent graduate looking to apply transferable skills to a new role. Previous growing experience is essential, ideally of some fresh produce. Further training will be available to the correct candidate.

Willing to be hands-on as well as have the ability for paper-based tasks.

Understanding of short shelf-life products and a keen eye for detail.

Maintain accurate records using Computer systems.

Relevant Qualifications for Spraying indoor and outdoor is essential -PA1,2,4 & 6.

Basis & Facts Qualifications would be advantageous.

The Assistant Growing Managerjob is based inNorth Yorkshireand is paying£25,000 - £30,000according to your experience.

The working hours will vary according to the growing season, typically from 39 hours up to 50 during peak periods, across 6 days in the season.
