The School Gordano School, part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership, is a large and successful 11-18 comprehensive secondary school approximately eight miles outside Bristol. Our school includes a thriving Sixth Form of approximately 350 students that is strongly integrated into the life of the school and offers significant opportunities for sixth form teaching in over 30 courses. The Role We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated Assistant Head of House to join us on a permanent contract to work with and support their Head of House and the wider Pastoral and Inclusion Teams. The Assistant Head of House is required to start no later than 8.30 am Monday to Friday. We welcome applications from non-teaching or qualified teaching staff (the role post does not involve any classroom teaching). The pattern of working hours (37hrs per week) are negotiable with the successful candidate, with core hours being 8.30am to 4pm (Monday to Thursday) and 8.30am to 3.30pm on a Friday. It is important that applicants recognise the safeguarding responsibilities that all adults in schools hold, and the checks that are needed to allow all adults in school communities to work there. The role will involve contact with students in the school, and the successful applicant will need to fully understand, and undertake regular training updates on, our safeguarding protocols and how to report on these if needed.
