The Role:
As the Assistant Head of School, you will:

• Take overall responsibility for the school in the absence of the Head of School.
• Lead on school examinations.
• Work closely with staff and students to maintain the school's strategic objectives.
• Assist in the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the Quality Improvement Plan.
• Lead and monitor staff progress, encouraging their professional development.
• Ensure the welfare, conduct, and progress of students, effectively communicating their needs to all staff.
• Foster positive relationships with parents, carers, external agencies, and the wider community.
• Monitor and evaluate the school curriculum, student attainment, and progress.

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Head of School role will have:

• Qualified teacher status.
• At least 5 years of successful teaching within a special needs environment.
• Evidence of major whole school responsibilities and successful practice.
• Experience of working with the community and involving school governors/trustees.
• A clear understanding of effective teaching and learning qualities.
• Knowledge of effective behaviour and teaching strategies in a special school setting.
• Understanding of TEACCH or similar ASD intervention strategies.
• Up-to-date knowledge of statutory regulations and OFSTED requirements.
