As an Assistant Headteacher, you will play a crucial role in the senior leadership team. Your responsibilities will include:
Curriculum Leadership:
- Leading and managing specific areas of the curriculum, such as pastoral care, data analysis, or teaching and learning.
- Ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across the school.
- Collaborating with other senior leaders to develop and implement effective strategies.
Inclusion and Student Support:
- Focusing on inclusion and student well-being.
- Supporting students with diverse needs and backgrounds.
- Deputising for the Headteacher when necessary.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Leading assessment practices and tracking student progress.
- Using data to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.
Whole-School Responsibilities:
- Participating in line management meetings.
- Conducting learning walks and providing feedback.
- Being available "on call" for urgent matters.
- Contributing to whole-school strategies and development.
Other Duties:
- Assisting with out-of-hours activities and events.
- Maintaining a visible presence around the school.
- Fulfilling reasonable expectations from the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, and Governing Body3.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Teaching Experience:
You must be an experienced primary teacher with a broad understanding of the primary age range.
- Leadership Skills:
Demonstrated leadership abilities, particularly in curriculum development and team management.
- Inclusion Focus:
A commitment to promoting inclusion and supporting students with diverse needs.
- Assessment Expertise:
Proficiency in assessing pupils' progress and using data effectively.
