Title: Assistant Headteacher - Quality of Education

Location: Oak Tree School, Truro

Salary: Up to GBP50,000 depending on experience

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8am-4.30pm

Contract: Permanent, Term time

We are recruiting for an Assistant Headteacher - Quality of Education to join our team at Oak Tree School.

About the role

The Assistant Headteacher will undertake the normal responsibilities of a teacher and be a member of the senior leadership team. They will work independently, alongside SLT to define, articulate, and implement the school's vision and values. The Assistant Headteacher will work in close partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, SENCo, parents, Governors and external agencies to improve, maintain and monitor high standards of the Quality of Education across the school. All members of the Senior Leadership Team are expected to be flexible to ensure the most effective organisation and delivery of learning. Other specific duties and responsibilities as part of the Senior Leadership Team will be allocated once a candidate has been appointed.

Key purpose of the job

  • To assist the Headteacher in developing the school as a high-quality specialist provision for pupils with social, emotional and mental health issues (SEMH)
  • To support the Headteacher in leading and managing the school to the highest professional standards
  • To uphold the ethos, aims and values of the school, its policies and codes of practice at all times
  • To support in the management of the school in the absence of the Headteacher as appropriate
  • To provide leadership and management of curriculum data and tracking progress of students
  • Advise the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team on curriculum issues.
  • To lead, organise and line manage all Head of Faculties (HOF's)

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Teaching qualification

About us

Oak Tree School is a specialist provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 7 to 16 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.

This opportunity is in Truro which is within commutable distance of Redruth, St Austell and surrounding areas.
