Our Client has a requirement for an Assistant Marine Operations Manager/ Pilot to join their Ross-shire based operations on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning the safe and expeditious berthing and departure of vessels.
Other responsibilities will also include assisting with new marine projects, coordinating passage planning with the Master, keeping records of vessel movements, reporting defects and assisting with emergencies.
Working closely with the Marine Operations Department, the post holder will gather data, review policies and update procedures.
In addition, they will be working towards Class 1 pilotage status, with a focus of the role on the pilotage aspect of the business.
Skills/ Competencies:
Essential:
- STCW II/2 (Masters unlimited) Certificate of Competency - applicants with lesser qualifications may be considered based on relevant experience
- Previous pilotage experience
- Valid ENG1 (or equivalent)
Desirable:
- Experience in Emergency planning - Exercise and Incident planning
- MCA Oil Spill Contingency certification
- Knowledge of management systems/ CRM/ SharePoint
Personal qualities/ attributes:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven people management experience
- A great team player, being flexible and adaptable, paying attention to details, having drive and ambition.
