ABOUT THE ROLE

An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Merchandiser to join this innovative Head Office team based in Cumbria. As Assistant Merchandiser you will ensure that the right product, in the right quantity, is in the right place at the right time to maximise availability. You will be responsible for the decision-making & management of a stock budget across circa 1,000 SKUs sourced from up to 200 suppliers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage annual stock intake budget making weekly purchasing decisions to achieve planned stock targets; pull forward, push back or cancel commitment & orders where appropriate to maximise sales & availability and minimise clearance markdown spend
  • Review and evaluate supply base capabilities in terms of delivery, quality, and price.
  • Assist in preparing Range Review & Range Sign-Off meeting packs
  • Present LY sales and margin “Highlights and Lowlights” at Commercial Sign Off under the guidance of your Merchandiser
  • Estimate new line sales and buy quantities, for a selected number of product categories, under the guidance of your Merchandiser using historical sales data, market and customer information and forward trends to guide decision-making

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

Must Haves:

  • Strong analytic and numeracy skills; takes in information quickly and accurately
  • Broad knowledge of computer systems, minimum of intermediate Excel skills
  • Ideally has experience using a WSSI planning system at category or department level
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent qualification
  • Works independently; plans own time effectively; can multi-task, prioritise and ensure that targets and deadlines are met; understands when to escalate issues
  • Challenged by a fast pace role with a high interruption level; able to cope well under pressure
  • Adapts influencing style to suit all customers & colleagues both internally and externally
  • Establishes rapport and builds effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the business – DC, Retail, Marketing, Contact Centre
  • Team player who works in partnership with others, shares information, knowledge & experience freely; builds and maintains positive relationships

SALARY:

Circa £26,000 (an element of flexibility DOE).

This role is hybrid and would generally require x2 days per week in the office.
