SalaryOur client is a regionally respected independent Garden Centre based just outside the M25 North of London. We are seeking an Assistant Plant Area Manager to work in a customer facing role at this large site. Leading a team of 4 - 8 staff to drive outdoor plant sales and operational standards.
The Role:
You will be responsible for supporting the Plant Area reporting into the Plant Area Manager and working closely with the Nursery team and horticultural buyer as well as line management of the hardy plants team you will also sometimes oversee the production team in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
You will help manage customer enquiries and be knowledgeable on outdoor plants. You will also be in a hands on role that requires stock management and physical activity as part of the role. You will play a part in buying in this role, working with department heads on planning and also visiting suppliers
Skills and Experience
- Supervisory/management experience
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent Plant Knowledge.
- Stock management and experience with EPOS systems
- Key holder and security responsibilities
- Good communication skills with the ability to train others and work as part of a wider team.
- Experience in taking a proactive approach to health and safety with a H&S qualification
- Willingness to gain an understanding of the heating and boiler systems and cover as necessary.
- Formal horticultural qualifications are highly desirable.
Desirable skills:
- Forklift license
- First aid certificate
- Fire marshal training
