We are London's Creative Catalyst for arts, curiosity and enterprise.
Our intention is to be a 21st century international Art Centre that champions equity and opportunity and explores new approaches to arts by sparking creative possibilities and transformation for artists, audiences, and communities. Barbican is a place to be and a place where everyone is welcome.
We have two theatre spaces which play host to the finest international theatre, dance and performance by artists and companies who are challenging the idea of what theatre can be. Our theatre department is looking for Assistant Producers to be responsible for the management of administrative support to the Head of Theatre and Producers in delivering national and international projects that take place within the Barbican Theatres and occasionally other offsite locations. The role will also take management responsibility for certain delegated productions and projects.
You will have a passion for the performing arts and proven experience in a theatre or dance environment, along with some experience of arts marketing. Excellent communication skills are essential; you will be able to build effective relationships with internal and external colleagues, and ideally you will have some previous experience of managing staff. You will be highly motivated, articulate, have good interpersonal skills, be capable of working to very tight deadlines, and be able to juggle multiple shows at one time, and adapt to changing priorities.
Whilst not essential, it would be advantageous if you have experience of managing events, diary management and knowledge of visas and certificate of sponsorship regulations. Excellent IT skills including good knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel are essential.
As part of our commitment to increasing the diversity of staff within the Barbican we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from groups that are currently underrepresented, including people from the Global Majority* and D/deaf and disabled people. We want to better reflect and understand the communities we exist to serve. We are members of the Disability Confident Scheme and guarantee to interview all disabled candidates who would like to be considered under this scheme and who meet the minimum essential criteria for the role. If you are a disabled person and need adjustments to the application process please contact us.
*Global Majority is a collective term that refers to people who are Black, Asian, Brown, dual-heritage, indigenous to the global south, and or, have been racialised as 'ethnic minorities'.

Closing Date: 12pm, 26th February 2024. Unfortunately, late applications will not be accepted.
