About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices in Scotland - Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow or Perth.

Salary: £33,500 - £50,300 + car / allowance+ performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager experienced in the principles of construction and commissioning of major transmission projects (OHL and substation). The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager during the Delivery phase of the Beauly-Denny Reinforcement Project.

The role requires a full current driving licence due to the requirement to travel to and be on site.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

- Help manage a multi-skilled project team supporting the successful delivery of transmission projects to cost, quality and timescales during the development and construction phases.

- Responsible for: the management of one or more works packages (c.£10m); a focus on project value and efficiency across all works within the project portfolio; and complete financial planning and reporting.

- Develop a clear understanding of the safety management systems, best practices and SSE Large Capital Projects Governance process. It is also important that they lead the project teams in alignment with the SSE Safety Culture and demonstrate SSE core leadership values.

- Lead the co-ordination of and provide input to, the production of design and build specifications, invitations to tender and tender assessments to ensure they are aligned with the RIIO-T2 Business Plan. Contribute to commercial negotiations, contract management and commercial event assessment across the project portfolio.

- As an Assistant Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to develop into a Project Manager through experiencing and participating in the full project lifecycle

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- An engineering and/or construction background with an understanding of health and safety requirements including a working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and the ability to apply Industry legislation, as well as company policies and procedures.

- An understanding of health and safety requirements including a working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.

- Knowledge and understanding of the administration of the NEC3 suite of contracts. IT literate with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and the aptitude to develop a working knowledge of Primavera P6. Good written and oral communication skills, including the capability of representing the Company with outside organizations.

- A good understanding of project management methodology and delivery of large capital projects and knowledge of Transmission processes and documentation. An understanding of project tender documents and knowledge of Procurement guidelines and procedures and an understanding of regulatory policies and processes.

- Good interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and a proactive, innovative approach to problem solving.
