Job description

Hours: 1 full-time (37.5 hours per week) and 1 part-time (18.75 hours) post, normally across 9-5, with some evening work (to 7pm)

We have two vacancies for Psychology Assistants to join our well-established Fife-Wide Guided-Self Help Service. The Guided Self-Help Service helps people with mild to moderate emotional needs / common mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression, who do not require specialist psychological therapy, and also provides help to people with more complex difficulties if they can benefit from evidence-based lower intensity interventions.

The post involves providing evidence-based guided self-help, using a range of resources, such as self-help materials, cCBT or apps. Following referral from a health professional or 3rd sector worker, or self-referral, we aim to see people as early as possible, providing early intervention or signposting to other community based resources or agencies that are likely to help their recovery. The post is an important link between these community organisations, Psychology, general practice and the wider Health & Social Care Partnership.

You will participate in ongoing audit and evaluation of the service. You will work with qualified clinicians to support the delivery of group psychoeducational interventions, for which some evening working will be required. You will receive regular supervision.

This is an opportunity to join a large area-wide Psychology Service that includes all the major clinical specialties. The Service is friendly, research-active and maintains a vigorous CPD programme. It has well-established links with the Universities of Edinburgh, Stirling and Dundee and provides placements for DClinPsyc trainees and trainees doing a range of clinically-based Masters programmes.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Angela Morrison-Brown, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, at angela.morrison-brown@nhs.scot or telephone number 01383 565256.

Part time posts are pro rata.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
