The Project
As a skilled Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will initially be based on a large new build commercial project in Newcastle with a build value in excess of £30m+ You will support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in various aspects of cost management and contractual administration while playing an integral role in ensuring the project is financially viable and well-executed.

- Strong communication and attention to details
- Understanding of construction laws and regulations
- The ability to accurately estimate the costs associated with the project
- A solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and techniques
It is also essential that you hold the experience below;
- History of assisting on commercial packages on new build / refurbishment projects with build values in excess of £5m+
- At least 2 years' experience in the industry in a similar position working for a leading construction contractor

Duties
- Preparing material reconciliations
- Monthly stock taking for valuations
- Measurement and valuation of works
- Assisting the QS with subcontract payments
- Preparing and submitting material delivery sheets
- Assisting in preparation of financial reports and valuations
- Assisting in the development of risk mitigation strategies
- Preparing bills of quantities (BOQ) and schedules of rates
- Communicating with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Evaluating and comparing tender submissions from contractors
- Contributing to the development and monitoring of project budgets
- Identifying and assessing potential risks related to cost and contracts
- Measurement and valuation of sub-contractors work for payment and Final Account
- Collaborating with other members of the project team, including architects, engineers, and contractors
- Analysing and evaluating project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and associated costs
