Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Up to £28,000pa

Jackson Hogg are now recruiting for a thriving, high quality construction business based in Middlesbrough. With the business now taking multiple variations, the opportunities for growth over the next 12-24 months will be and exciting development for any ambitious individual looking for their next step in a hands on, fast paced business.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be joining the business to join and carve out the quantity surveying team within the commercial management sector of the business. This is an exciting role for an individual who holds QS experience working within a fast paced company but isn’t ready/qualified to go into a full Quantity Surveying role.

You will be ambitious and embrace new projects with positivity. This role will require you to be an extremely organised individual as this area of the business is very fast paced due to the exciting growth their experiencing currently. Although the business is fast paced and demanding this is rewarding opportunity to kickstart your career within Quantity Surveying with a business that holds themselves to a high standard of work.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:

- Assist in managing costs on construction projects and ensuring the projects are completed with said budget.

- Reporting and documentation all site-based processes, events and incidents.

- Assist the QS/Senior QS with preparing tender documentation, contracts, subcontracts, bills of quantities and any other documentation required for the project to run through successfully.

- Pricing and forecasting project cost and report at set periods in writing to go over the financial status of individual projects.

- Keeping track of cash flow forecasting and provide accurate reporting as and when required.

- Assist with arranging the services of sub-contractors and other professionals.

- Ensuring there is no risks to any staff or contractors health and safety on or off site and making sure all company health and safety policies are kept to at all times.

- Measure and value the works done on set projects.

- Liaising with client and construction professionals including site managers, project managers, engineers and designers.

Key Skills & Requirements:

- Experience working in an Assistant/Junior Quantity Surveyor role or apprenticeship work experience.

- Good working knowledge of MS Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook.

- Commercial awareness of the construction industry would be beneficial, however anyone with a similar QS background is encouraged to apply.

- Strong numerical skills.

- Ability to build strong relationships directly within the Quantity Surveying team, within the business internally but also externally with third party businesses/contractors.

- Must hold the ability to remain organised and productive within a fast-paced working environment to embrace all opportunities the business gain.
