Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Service Manager to join the team within the Alan Road Service, Ipswich.

There are 6 service users who all live within their own flats. One person we support may be moving to another provider, however support hours are small. There are a variety of needs within the service. One individual has the sleep in situated within their flat as well as a waking night across the service. All service users require support with every aspect of their daily life from personal care to going out in to the community. Active support is provided to ensure people live as independently as possible and are able to maximise their life goals and personal choices.

The role will include working alongside the Service Manager in the day to day running of the service as well as management and coordination of support hours, rota's, assisting with recruitment of new staff, management of staff, shift leading, maintaining records as well as day to day support including personal care, cooking, cleaning and administering medication.

About you;

  • Have experience managing small to medium staff teams within social care
  • Have experience of supporting people with disabilities and complex needs
  • Good organisational skills and time management
  • Be confident in using your own initiative and deputising for the Service Manager
  • Passionate and driven about providing the best support to others
  • Ideally hold a full manual valid driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Be flexible to work across a 7 day rota completing shifts when required (early shift, late shift and nights.

  • Work closely with the Service Manager to inspire and motivate the team to provide a high quality service as well assist in implementing current legislation and CQC requirements
  • To support and promote Avenues vision, values and operating principles

  • Maintain a practical knowledge of policies and procedures and ensure appropriate usage
  • Effectively recruit, develop and manage employees in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Work with your Service Manager to reinforce a culture of continuous improvement.
  • You will motivate and inspire your team to provide outstanding support through effective training, coaching and leadership by example
  • Be expected to attend appointments with the people we support, attend care reviews, review and update care plans and risk assessments, record and monitor daily logs, lead shifts and administer medication
  • Day to day support for the people we are supporting
