Job description

Assistant Strategic Engagement Manager (permanent contract)

The Assistant Strategic Engagement Manager is part of the Strategic Engagement team, which is responsible for planning and managing a portfolio of strategic relationships to help us to deliver our ambitious corporate strategy and improve our relationships over time.

The Assistant Strategic Engagement Manager will play a leading role in:

  • Providing timely and accurate intelligence and advice and identify opportunities to engage and influence effectively, working with colleagues in communications, policy, operational and other external affairs teams.
  • Planning, managing and developing a portfolio of complex relationships which are strategically valuable to the GMC’s work, building strong working relationships with counterparts in our partner organisations, and providing strategic advice to colleagues based on your in-depth understanding of the relationships in your portfolio.
  • Providing effective and inclusive line management to the Strategic Engagement Officer.

This is a hybrid role between home working and office working, with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office. We may ask you to attend the office on additional days where necessary.

We are happy to support a range of flexible working options. Flexible working requests will be considered in line with the policy.

You can find more detail on the tasks you will undertake, and the essential skills required for the role, in the job description.

How to apply for the role

Please provide a CV and covering letter. The covering letter should clearly set out how you meet the essential skills for the role, which are listed in the job description. You should also include a paragraph outlining your reasons for applying for the role.

We recommend no more than 2 sides of A4 for the covering letter, but it can be more if required.

We will assess the information you provide against the skills required for the role and let you know whether you will progress to the next stage of the recruitment process.

If you do not provide all the above, we will not be able to progress your application.

  • 30 days holiday with the option to buy and sell more
  • A generous employer pension contribution of 15%
  • Access to a range of learning and development opportunities designed to support your ongoing progression
  • Flexible working patterns
  • Attractive salary that’s reviewed annually
  • Discounts at 100s of high street and online stores
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Private medical insurance
  • Employee assistance programme
