Job Title: Assistant Underwriter
Salary: Up to £30,000
Location: West Malling (one day a week in office)
Overview:
An excellent opportunity has arisen with my client, a leading data and technology driven Insurance organisation. We are seeking a career driven professionals who have demonstrable experience Underwriting or have worked as part of a Conveyancing or Private Client department in a busy law firm. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a highly reputable team, and you will be supported by Senior Underwriters to assess and underwrite insurance risks in accordance with company guidelines.
Duties include:
- Working as part of the underwriting team to ensure the highest level of service and technical expertise is provided to clients
- Assess risk and underwrite insurance risks in accordance with company guidelines
- To gather and assess appropriate information and record in a clear underwriting risk summary form on each file, evidencing reasons for recommending insurance
- Calculate competitive premiums which are reflective of risk presented
- To form and maintain good working relationships with clients
- Maintain and build upon existing knowledge inclusive of changes in law to ensure that products continue to meet the need and demand of clients
- Day to day administration including but not inclusive of, answering website and telephone queries on products, chasing quotations updating in house systems.
The successful candidate will have/be:
- Demonstrable experience underwriting insurance
- Alternatively, having worked for a broker within the industry or having worked as a conveyancing/private client practitioner who is looking to utilise their skills and knowledge on title/estate administration risks within an underwriting role.
- Can demonstrate a good understanding of defective title insurance and/or estate administration/probate insurance
- Highly analytical and good at problem solving
- Good experience working collaboratively and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
