Job Title: Associate Data Scientist     

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh or Alderley Edge

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

We are seeking a talented Associate Data Scientist to join the Data Solutions team at Royal London. As an Associate Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in helping us analyse complex data sets and uncover valuable insights to drive business decisions and optimize operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, utilising AI, machine learning and analytical techniques to provide data-driven solutions.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual who is keen to learn and is passionate about utilising data. The purpose of this team is to create business value through delivery of specific Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence projects and initiatives. These initiatives will create insights, answer key business questions, solve business problems, and support decision making at all levels of the organisation.

 

Data Solutions sits within the Group Data Office, providing teams across Royal London with Data and Analytics services to support their strategic goals. The team also run the Analytics and Data Science Community of Practice, helping to take forward the Group’s capability in these areas and our progress towards being “Data Led”. As an Associate Data Scientist, you will contribute to the delivery of analytics, data science, machine learning and AI projects to support decision making across Royal London UK.

 

About the role

 

  • Work with the team to develop and implement a variety machine learning and AI models and techniques to analyse large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis and data visualization to identify patterns and trends.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and prioritize analytical objectives and deliver actionable insights.
  • Develop predictive models to forecast trends, risks, and potential outcomes.
  • Design and validate experiments to test hypotheses and measure the effectiveness of different strategies.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies in the field of data science and AI.

 

About you

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst, Associate or Trainee Data Scientist or similar role.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL. Experience in using MS Azure and Databricks.
  • Good understanding of analytics, data visualisation, statistical modelling, and machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools, such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
