Vacancy Title: Associate Director – Engineering
Primary Duties
- Lead an established team of mechanical and electrical design engineers on projects through the RIBA stages 0-7.
- Provide technical knowledge and mentorship of mechanical and electrical engineers of all levels.
- Hold weekly resource meetings with the mechanical and electrical design teams to coordinate resource, project.
- status, utilization, and quality.
- Collaborate with leadership / commercial teams on financial budgets, invoicing, and performance.
- Design, specifications, and construction stage project management of electrical projects (all aspects of Electrical
- Services), this will include all RIBA stages.
- Project manage and supervise projects coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
- Ensuring all projects are designed and implemented to meet British Standards and other appropriate legislation.
- Electrical Services Feasibility Study and Energy Efficiency Reports.
- Develop good relationships with each team member for effective leadership.
- Assist with implementing QA procedures for all projects.
- Provide mentorship and career development plans for the building services team on an annual basis.
- Interviews and recruitment of engineers where applicable / required.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Requirements (Experience):
- Ideally at least 15 years Design experience on construction and renewable projects design.
- Experience of working / leading design teams on projects across all sectors.
- Experience in working on projects in all sectors from feasibility through to handover, including performance and
- technical design duties.
- Experience in project management of building services design projects, CDM, contract / cost management.
- Experience in design calculation software packages: AutoCAD, Dialux and Trimble Amtech (for example).
- Good working knowledge of industry regulations design and installations.
- Good working knowledge of design standards and good working practices within the built environment.
- Professionally qualified to at least Higher National Certificate Level.
- Ideally professionally registered with CIBSE and/or IET.
- Ideally a Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership status (the company would support in this).
- Strong leadership skills.
- Demonstrate a ‘can do attitude’ and willingness to always go the ‘extra mile’.
- Team player who will fit in to the design department to successfully lead the building services design team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Pro-active mentality with strong multitask self-time management skills.
- Ability to manage/organize project portfolios.
- Strong attention to detail in design situations
- Ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels with clients, developers, architects, and project
- associations.

- Job Type: Full time – permanent
- Location: Brierley Hill, West Midlands
- Working hours: 09:00-17:00
- Salary: £70,000 – 76,000 + Bonus
- 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays - Increasing to 27 days after 5 years’ service.
