Job Description
About the role
We are looking for an Associate Editor to join our growing team. Based in London, the ideal candidate will have an outstanding grasp of written English and immaculate proofing skills, coupled with an academic background or deep interest in international relations. The Associate Editor will support Sibylline’s Global Intelligence Team by acting as the gatekeeper for routine products and bespoke client projects, making sure that all published content adheres to the highest of standards concerning brevity, analytical rigour and our comprehensive writing style guide.
Working as part of Sibylline’s Intelligence Delivery function, the Associate Editor will also be expected to ensure that all visual aids which accompany Sibylline’s written products adhere to the company’s graphics style guide. Experience with basic graphic design packages such as Canva and Mapcreator is therefore preferable, though not essential; a keen desire to ensure that our visual aids are published with the same degree of consistency and quality as our written copy is much more essential. The position will be highly dynamic, offering the candidate opportunities to work on different topics within a range of fields.
The ideal candidate will also possess razor-sharp attention to detail, an obsession with perfect copy and superb communication skills; being able to identify glib assessments, ambiguity and/or analytical inconsistency is essential in order to maximise the quality of Sibylline’s output.
In addition to editing, proofing and distributing routine and ad hoc reports, the Associate Editor will work closely with the Marketing Team to ensure that all content published via social media is of the highest standard. They will also be expected to contribute to podcasts and videos that showcase our analysts’ insight and assessments, either in terms of brainstorming media content or, depending on their geopolitical expertise, by interviewing panel members.

- Being able to understand the importance of underscoring the ‘so what?’ with regard to business implications
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word
- An ability to work to tight deadlines
- An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong emotional intelligence and an ability to discuss complex issues with co-workers
- Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
Desirable
- Experience with a content management system

- A deep interest in current global events and/or geopolitics
- A basic understanding of world geography (countries, capital cities, world leaders etc)
Next Steps
Successful candidates will be invited to complete a writing assessment (at an arranged time that suits them) to test their proofing and editorial abilities, followed by a set of psychometric tests. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to a final panel interview. In the current environment, our interviews will be conducted either virtually or in person.
