Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Lecturer in Microbiology and Immunology.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced individual to teach introductory immunology and virology to our undergraduate bioscience students this Summer term.

  • Competitive hourly rate starting at £66.70 per hour (inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay)

  • Flexible working hours with teaching on Thursday evenings 6-9pm

You will contribute to teaching on the second year of our BSc Biomedicine programme, giving introductory lectures on immunology and viruses to students from a variety of backgrounds in the middle of their undergraduate studies.

As an Associate Lecturer, you will have:

  • a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching of biological sciences
  • a PhD in biological sciences, or a related discipline
  • a sound knowledge of cell biology and have experience of teaching at an undergraduate level
  • excellent communication and presentation skills
  • evidence of supporting students from a range of backgrounds to achieve their potential.

The module syllabus has been designed and the teaching materials are in place, although there is freedom to refine these, as well as contribute to the construction of the module and the assessments.

Remuneration

Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £66.70 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked.

This post is for a 15 credit Level 5 module and requires 25 contact hours of teaching, lecture prep and marking.
