Associate Marketing Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Marketing Manager to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract. 

Role Summary

 

What will you be doing?  

The Associate Marketing Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing the marketing strategy for their portfolio of journals ensuring loyalty of existing authors as well as new authorship. The Associate Marketing Manager will manage the marketing for their strategic area and is accountable for monitoring budget/ROI and achieving annual marketing objectives and KPIs through the implementation of multi-channel marketing campaigns (across email, social, search, in-person and virtual events, etc.) 

Key job accountabilities include:  

Responsible for performing monthly analysis for their strategic area and setting annual SMART objectives that directly support the Journal Development strategy for their portfolio and products and overall business objectives. 

Collaborate with the editorial teams and key internal stakeholders to understand product positioning and campaign requirements 

Implement activities identified in the marketing plan to raise awareness, support article usage, content growth and engaging with authors, and recruiting and engaging with guest editors. This could include, but is not limited to, email, social media, advertising, and in-person or virtual events 

Make data-driven decisions when setting strategies and objectives, planning campaigns and activities to optimise performance. 

Proactively identify and develop customer touchpoints throughout marketing activities and the overall publishing process, to ensure a positive customer experience  

Identify opportunities for lead generation by looking at gaps in the marketing contacts database and work with colleagues in the marketing team and data insights team to add relevant contacts. 

About you:  

The successful candidate will demonstrate:  

Able to demonstrate evidence of applying marketing skills and experience at a high level.  

Can demonstrate a solid understanding of marketing theory and how to apply this to the role.  

Experienced in using a variety of marketing channels and tactics to provide solutions and achieve objectives. 

 Is able to measure performance against goals, evaluate results and seek improvements.  

Excellent communication skills and negotiation skills are essential, as is confidence in communicating with stakeholders, including internal and external customers at many different levels. 

Good understanding of the STM publishing industry would be desirable  

Good understanding of the importance of GDPR compliance within marketing activities and in working with business partners. 

  •  A degree or professional qualification in marketing or related area is desirable.

Flexible Working: The contractual location of this role is our Bristol office, but we have recently moved to a hybrid working model with a dynamic and blended combination of office and remote working, dependent on business and team requirements. As there will not be a requirement for the person in this role to be in the office on a weekly basis, we are open to considering applicants from a wider geographical area who are happy to travel to Bristol on a regular basis likely twice per month.
