To support analytical scientists in the development of cell based potency and plate based immunoassays that are used for the analysis of ImmTAX and other TCR based molecules to support stability, lot release and characterisation studies as part of product development. To role will provide scientific and technical support to the team of bioassay scientists. The Associate Scientist will conduct experimental investigation, with supervision and guidance from colleagues and managers, enabling the advancement of the company pipeline, process, or technology capabilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support development and qualification of bioassay (cell based potency and immuno-analytical) methods to support drug substance (DS) and drug product (DP) release and stability testing for the Immunocore therapeutic drug portfolio.
* Support investigative and characterisation studies using bioassay methods.
* Run pre-established experimental investigations, with guidance from line managers, a mentor or colleagues.
* Analyse data obtained with minimal supervision
* Contribute to authoring technical documents including development reports, analytical test methods, and method qualification reports.
* Maintain cells required in cellular potency assays to the appropriate standards.
* Support the stock control, purchasing and distributing lab reagents and consumables
* Priorities: working to agreed experimental priorities and deadlines; raising issues or concerns with managers or colleagues so that these can be addressed.
* Technical knowledge: actively developing own knowledge, drawing on the experience of others and self-learning.
* Laboratory records: Ensuring that all records and data are up to date, on time and recorded to the correct standard, checking with a mentor or colleagues if unsure.
* Laboratory equipment: attending training on the use of technical instruments, using equipment appropriately, correctly and tidily.
* Health & Safety: compliance with all H&S requirements, attending appropriate training programmes.

* Commitment to growing and learning laboratory skills and scientific theories
Experience & knowledge
Essential
* A background in biochemical or related laboratory work, with one or more years' experience gained in industry.
* A strong background in biochemical and immunological techniques
* Competence in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and relevant scientific software
* Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
* Recorded results and information in a concise, accurate and timely way
* Learned about new practices through observation, self-learning and an enquiring mind
* Worked and contributed actively in a diverse team environment
Desirable
* Prior knowledge of developing cell based potency or immunoassays (eg ELISA)
* Experience of lab organisation/maintenance
* Proactive in ensuring high quality of their work and seeking additional responsibilities to help meeting the goals of the team
Education & qualifications
* BSc. in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Immunology or related discipline
