Asylum Seeker Support Worker

Our client, based in Bedfordshire, is currently recruiting for a Support Worker on a permanent basis. The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis with an annual salary of £23,000 - £26,000 dependent on experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with Asylum Seekers, be happy to have an enhanced DBS carried out, and have a full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Supporting residents and managing a case load of clients by organising and conducting coaching sessions, attending professional meetings and making referrals to external agencies if needed

• Carrying out assessments of new residents following referrals

• Creating and implementing support plans and risk management plans

• Carrying out daily checks to ensure residents are provided with the correct support

• Liaising with other professionals when needed such as social workers, solicitors, translators, police and education providers

• Working with the team to support each other ensuring that residents always receive a consistent standard of positive attitude and appropriate behaviour in the delivery of the service

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• Working with clients who are applying for asylum status

• Experienced working in a support setting

• Knowledge of the HMRC system when applying for asylum status

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week

• Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
