Audit Assistant (Pensions)            

We are looking to recruit an Audit Assistant to join our fast-growing pension scheme audit team who undertake statutory audit and related services to pension schemes across the UK. It is expected that the successful candidate will be based within wholly or primarily within the pension scheme audit team as part of the wider financial services audit team.

Our pensions audit team work with around 150 clients and counting.  We differ to core audit by working mainly remotely for our clients.  We work with several large audit clients including both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes. We work most often with other professional entities, including professional pension administrators, trustees and actuaries.

The Audit Assistant will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Performing a range of audit procedures on financial statement balances
• Documentation of work performed in a clear and concise manner
• Carrying out quality control checks on financial statements
• Highlighting any issues noted promptly to more senior members of the team
• Other ad-hoc projects and support as requested

About you:

This opportunity would suit a forward-thinking candidate with an interest in audit and the pensions sector and who is looking to use their skills and knowledge in a growing firm, always seeking to learn and develop.

• Ability to embrace new technology and be open to change
• Communication skills and prioritisation of workload are essential
• Working knowledge of Excel
• A business or accounting qualification (or equivalent) or experience in a financial services environment or pension industry (pension administrator etc)
• No previous audit experience is required as full training will be provided
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A leader of your work and professional learning
• This role includes an opportunity to work towards a professional accountancy qualification with ICAS or ACCA
