JOB TITLE: Audit Portfolio Lead - Climate Risk and Sustainability

SALARY: £86, 964 - £102,310

LOCATION: Edinburgh, Bristol & London

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our Bristol, Edinburgh or London hubs.

About this opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Group Audit and Conduct Investigations (GA&CI) function and the Financial Risk audit community as a Portfolio Lead in Climate Risk & Sustainability. This role provides the opportunity to shape as well as lead audits, harnessing a deep understanding of Climate Risk & Sustainability risks to provide high quality independent assurance on the effectiveness of controls.

Responsibilities (day to day tasks of the role) include:

  • Audit Planning: planning for a portfolio of audits, requesting/selecting resources and collaborating closely with collaborators to discuss and propose scope and timelines.

  • Audit Execution: leading delivery of a portfolio of audits, delivering audits on time and within budget, ensuring quality of audit file and coverage of agreed scope, ensuring compliance with audit methodology, and providing progress updates to the Head of Audit and Audit Directors.

  • Audit report preparation and agreement with collaborators.

  • Supervise the follow-up and subsequent remediation of audit issues identified.

  • Coaching and supporting colleagues in Climate & Sustainability risks.

  • Providing SME insights and support.

  • Driving personal growth and continuous improvement.

What you'll need

  • 5 years+ experience of leading and delivering complex, thematic, end to end and integrated audits covering areas like Climate Risk, Sustainability, and financial risk.

  • Has experience of auditing emerging risk areas, such as Climate Risk and Sustainability, and has contributed to Executive level insights through consideration of themes, data and assumptions analysis. Able to review Group or Business Unit strategic delivery end to end (business as usual and change) and communicate challenges with senior collaborators.

  • Experience in working with senior stakeholders on business agility, offering experience, knowledge, and guidance on how best to leverage Agile methodology to achieve growth ambitions, and an agent for change.

  • Experience of consolidating insights and identifying thematic messages as well as influencing management on strategic direction. Able to bring outside strategies, perspectives and challenges to life.

  • The ability to analyse, understand and communicate data as information, and to use data to drive effective audit outcomes.

  • Experience of leading the resourcing for a function or business and directing overall objectives for team, taking ownership for resourcing decisions, even when complicated.

  • Experience of providing support and coaching for junior colleagues as well as leading projects where you have shown leadership decision making and leading to time, resource, and quality.

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Good knowledge of credit risk associated with climate and Sustainability risks across both Consumer, Commercial Banking and IP&I products.

  • Acts as an inspiring leader advising Leaders on area performance and growth opportunities. Shapes a data driven approach to decision making.

  • A good awareness of emerging risks impacting the group like nature Risk and the increasing level of regulatory disclosures required on the topics of Net Zero, Sustainability, Climate Risk and Nature.
