Authorised Person & LOTO Officer

Astute’s EPC Power team is partnering with an EPC Contractor within the UK Power Industry to recruit an Authorised Person / LOTO Officer on a contract basis for its Open Cycle Gas Turbine plants based in Aberdare (South Wales) & Stewartby (Bedfordshire).
The Authorised Person / LOTO Officer role comes with a day rate of �350.00 to �400.00 per day for 8 months.

Key skills and responsibilities:

* Thorough understanding of plant mechanical and electrical systems along with in-depth understanding and interpretation of P&IDs, electrical one line/multiline and other pertinent drawings
* Follows safety/environmental rules and regulations. Implements project safe work practices and immediately identifies hazards and recommends and/or implements repairs.
* Understands and executes the equipment clearance (LOTO) procedure, as well as Job Safety Analysis/Work Authorization/Confined Space/Hot Work Permits.
* Receive, verify, and approve LOTO permits, as directed by the project PTW system.
* Ensures all protective measures identified on the permit are implemented prior to authorized start of the work.
* Issue tags and locks for personnel
* Maintain control of locks and permits (open and closed) with log and report daily.
* Ensures locks and tags are placed and removed from designated equipment and systems.
* Ensure the equipment or system is in safe configuration after work is completed.
* Report to the Lead Mechanical/Electrical Engineers, the Commissioning Manager, and the Head of Commissioning where necessary
* At least 2-5 years working experience in EHS and lock-out/tag-out processes of large power stations with demonstrable experience in a role of similar relevance.
* HND/HNC in Mechanical/Process/Electrical engineering is preferred.
* Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.
* Excellent communication skills

* Aberdare (South Wales) & Stewartby (Bedfordshire)
* �350.00 to �400.00 per day (Outside IR35)
* April 2024 start date
