About the Role:
GSL Education are currently seeking to appoint enthusiastic Autism practitioner to undertake a position at one of our client schools in Gainsborough. Autism Practitioner Role:

• Being prepared to respond appropriately in emergency or crisis situations involving students with autism, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Collaborating with teachers, special education coordinators, and parents to develop and implement personalized individualized education plans for students with autism.
• Providing one-on-one or small group support to students both in the classroom to address academic, social, and behavioural needs.
• Implementing strategies to support effective communication, which may include using visual aids, social stories, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
• Organizing and leading social skills groups or activities to help students improve their social interactions and relationships with peers.

The successful candidate will:

• Understanding the characteristics, behaviors, and needs of individuals on the autism spectrum is fundamental.
• Effective communication skills are essential for building rapport with students, collaborating with other professionals (teachers, therapists, parents), and advocating for the needs of individuals with ASD.
• Being flexible and adaptable in your approach to support is vital in meeting the diverse needs of students with ASD
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and other professionals is essential in creating a supportive environment for students with ASD.
