Job description

A fantastic opportunity has recently become available for an Autism Specialist Support worker in a lovely school in Bracknell.

If you are caring and compassionate and have a kind and encouraging outlook, apply now!

Your responsibilities as an Autism Specialist Support Worker:

Your role will be pivotal in providing support for students who struggle with Autism as their primary diagnosis. These children also have additional needs such as speech and language difficulties, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and other learning needs. Many have also been noticed as struggling with social, emotional and mental health needs.

You will be responsible for supporting the students during the school day with their learning. Many of these children have educational health care plans and need individuals who can adjust their approach to match their needs. You will also support the class teacher by facilitating specialized techniques that aid in behaviour de-escalation.

Over and above supporting the students with their academic journeys, you will also help the class teacher with their duties. This will include helping with lesson planning and preparation, keeping the classroom tidy, supervising general behaviour and monitoring students' progress.

The successful Autism Specialist Support Worker:

The successful Autism Specialist Support Worker will be an individual who is calm, works well under pressure and has a positive and encouraging personality.

You will ideally have some experience working with children and be eager to learn.

Experience working with children who have additional needs will be advantageous, but this is not essential.

You must have an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one.

You must understand the importance of safeguarding in schools.

This is a great opportunity for individuals looking for a new challenge. This role will also suit aspiring educational psychologists, counsellors as well as behaviour therapists. While this role will provide you with valuable experience working with children with additional needs, it is also extremely fulfilling and you will go home every day knowing you are making a difference.
