Job Description:

 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Automation Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation systems that support our biopharmaceutical production processes. This role requires a deep understanding of control systems, programming, and process optimization to ensure the highest standards of efficiency, safety, and quality in our operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement control system architectures for biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Create and update detailed design documents, including control narratives, functional specifications, and software design specifications. Program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. Configure and optimize control system components, including sensors, actuators, and communication networks. Integrate automation systems with existing production and IT infrastructure. Collaborate with process engineers, quality assurance, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and compliance with regulatory standards. Diagnose and resolve issues with control systems to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure system reliability and performance. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement automation solutions to enhance productivity and quality. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in automation and control systems.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in automation and control systems engineering, preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and HMI/SCADA development. Strong knowledge of control system design, instrumentation, and process control. Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus). Familiarity with GAMP (Good Automated Manufacturing Practice) and other relevant regulatory guidelines. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Experience with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems). Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools. Certification in automation or control systems engineering (e.g., ISA, PE).
