In this specific contract position, you'll be working hand-in-hand with our dedicated automotive clientele. Due to the nature of the role, we will only be able to consider candidates with direct Automotive work experience. We are only able to consider candidates on an inside IR35 basis.
What You'll Do:
Working as a consultant, you will support our Customer’s existing engineering quality resource, you will be responsible for driving an increased throughput of automotive projects through to robust resolution.
We are actively seeking experienced Automotive Project Engineers in the following disciplines:
- HV Charging Systems
Each project will be progressed using defined problem-solving methodology, predominantly 8D process, from problem definition through to engineering release.
Responsibilities:
Our Customer has existing quality improvement teams in each of the engineering specialisms (body, chassis, powertrain, electrical, and HV charging). The HV Charging Project Engineer will take ownership of issues related to the entire physical charging process from grid to battery, including onboard and offboard charging. You will focus on the control of charging, charging control systems/strategies, and hardware such as DCDC inverters and batteries.
Specific duties include:
- Leading problem definition activities for HV charging issues.
- Conducting data-gathering activities to understand possible contributing factors and root causes.
- Building detailed understanding of the full HV charging system functionality.
- Reporting transparently on quality issue status.
- Leading cost/warranty reduction initiatives related to HV charging systems.
- Recommending improvements to engineering standards for current and future HV components/systems.
- Creating and maintaining service-related documentation.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Proven problem-solving skills in HV systems.
- Technical knowledge related to HV charging, control systems, and strategies.
- Experience with circuit board designs and understanding failure modes of PCBs.
- Familiarity with automotive fault-finding and diagnostics (e.g., understanding how monitors work, filtering, reaction, and diagnostics).
- HV systems experience (not low voltage).
- Ability to engage and manage stakeholders at all business levels.
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Full valid UK driving license.
