We’re recruiting for a Laravel Developer to join a web solutions specialist who are headquartered in Leeds. They are passionate about best practice, good coding standards and maintaining a clean code base and have a great opportunity on offer for Laravel specialists who wanted to be involved in end to end solutions design and complex, interesting projects. 

The Overview:

• The team works remotely with a monthly meet up in Leeds city centre, these generally take place from 11am to 3pm with a team lunch in the middle – and you can expense your travel

• There’s currently 3 Agile Scrum teams and we’re looking to build the 4th

• The company has grown significantly over the past few years and continue to grow this year with aims to double the size of the development team

• The development team is currently circa 15 with more hires currently being recruited

• They were acquired by a very large group 3 years ago and they work across the group, acting as an internal software house – it’s a very safe sector and a multibillion-pound group

• The work is 99% greenfield, with a clean, well maintained code base and very little legacy code – something which they are actively working to remove from the platform

The Role:

• Building backend features, composer packages, data analytic dashboards, data mapping, working with third party API’s and web services, setting up projects, maintaining versioning of packages, Docker configuration

• Working on the backend of quote and buy websites for the UK insurance industry, this includes tech challenger InsurTech brands and price comparison sites. Other projects include bespoke portals and applications

• Working with the System Architect to map out the build process and solution design

Must Have Experience:

• Object-oriented PHP

• Laravel

• Composer Packages

• API consumption

• Design Patterns

• Git

Bonus points for any experience with Docker, Kubernetes, data mapping, PHPUnit, TDD, AWS, Tailwind, Vue/React/JavaScript. There’s an option to pick up frontend JavaScript skills in both React and Vue as well as many other technologies via on the job training and LinkedIn Learning.
