Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available to work in the busy and fast paced Appointment Centre at Heartlands Hospital.
We have several posts available for full time hours, 37.5 hours Monday to Friday and for part time hours Monday to Friday, including evenings up to 8pm.
The Appointment Centre receives over a million patient referrals a year from GPs and other stakeholders, to process and book for Outpatient Clinics across all UHB Trust sites . As part of a large team of staff (circa 85+) you will deal with telephone queries from patients and GP's, book and cancel clinics as requested, along with any validation of systems needed. Full training will be provided.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
We are looking for someone who has the following skills:
- To be fully computer literate (training will be given on Trust IT systems)
- To have good customer service skills and deal with patients empathetically

The overall activities of the post-holder will include:
- Data input, accurately inputting data using a variety of Trust IT systems in a timely way
- Booking, changing and cancelling Outpatient clinics or appointments
- Undertake filing, photocopying, scanning of documents as required
- Answering the telephone and taking messages, dealing with them in a timely and efficient way
and referring on as appropriate
- Validating internal reports
- Work collaboratively as part of an integrated team
- Receive and open incoming post and take action as required
